About the school’s needs
In the community, one of the main challenges is to encourage the active participation of parents for the benefit of the school and the community itself. There is also a high dropout rate. Children start working at an early age to support the family economy.
Students face high temperatures on a daily basis, especially in spring and summer, making it difficult for them to concentrate and even attend class.
In addition, in recent years, the community has experienced flooding during the rainy season. This has resulted in loss of life and the destruction of the access bridge.

“My name is Valentina. I am 11 years old. My dream is to be a doctor and, in my free time, I enjoy drawing, painting, helping my mom, and watching TV.
I think one of the biggest challenges facing young people in my community is that many have to work instead of going to school. My dream is for more children to attend school regularly.
I would like to see my school nicer, with more students and more classrooms, offering sports and computer classes, plus a library with lots of books and an air-conditioned classroom.”

“My name is Edwin, and I am 8 years old. My dream is to be part of the Navy. In my free time, I like to play and have fun.
I think one of the biggest challenges facing the youth in my community is that we don’t have a place to play in the afternoons. My dream is to have somewhere where we can go to play without any problems.
Also, I would like to see my school in a quieter place, without so much noise from cars, since I don’t like that it is on the side of the road.”

Meet a teacher
“My name is Amir, and I am the principal of this school. The biggest challenge of our school is to generate quality education based on the available resources, which are often limited.
We have a great challenge as an educational community to strengthen the infrastructure and encourage parental responsibility towards their children’s school activities. The school represents the heart of the community, a center of learning, and coexistence for children, youth and adults.
Our biggest dream as a school is to train children to achieve a professional career and for the campus to become a comfortable and playful space that fully captures the interest of the students, improving their learning processes.
Our school, although small, is beautiful and harmonious, and it is characterized by being organized, applied, empathetic, and participative, with students who are always eager to excel.
Financially supporting our school, which has only three committed teachers, would significantly help to improve the quality of education and provide better opportunities for our students.
