About the school’s needs
The community of Montserrat faces significant challenges, including increased levels of youth violence and high dropout rates.
Fear of stigma, such as that associated with gang membership, has driven many young people away from the education system, exacerbating the gap between the community and the school.
Help give the children of the Instituto Nacional Profesor Jaime Francisco López the future they deserve.

“I am 17 years old, and I like spending time with my family and friends. Someday, I would like to be in the media and be a presenter. The biggest dream I have is that we will no longer be victims of stigmatization because of the lack of opportunities in the community.
With Sponsor a School’s support, I believe we could be provided with entrepreneurship ideas that would add to our curriculum.
I want my institute to be seen as a place where we can excel, but it needs support to fix the infrastructure.”
—Mariana, 17

That’s why I would like to improve the infrastructure of my high school. It would be a very good incentive to help students like me develop or discover skills.”

Our institute struggles to break the stigmatization toward our students and their families affected by violence. Students from the community seek to specialize in various careers, but we are currently only offering general high school.
This institute is an opportunity for academic improvement, a space for recreation for the students.
My greatest hope is to take advantage of the space, to offer technological services so that through learning, we can eradicate youth violence, reduce school dropout rates, and improve family coexistence and community cohesion.”
