About the school’s needs
Escuela Profesora Flora Tolentino is in La Minita, a neighborhood in the city of Monseñor Nouel, Dominican Republic. The area faces major challenges. The most pressing is a lack of access to clean drinking water. There are few jobs for mothers and fathers, as well as few spaces for family recreation, limiting students’ developmental prospects.
Students carry these familial and social conflicts with them to school, impacting their learning environment.
Despite these obstacles, the school is a haven for forming and preparing individuals. The Flora Tolentino School is a pillar for academic growth and community progress. It serves as a second home for young people, where they get a quality education.
By sponsoring Escuela Profesora Flora Toletino, you will be providing essential resources to its students. Your sponsorship means everything from physical structures, such as new restrooms and classroom repairs, to new extracurricular programs and resources.
Help give the children of Escuela Profesora Flora Toletino the future they deserve.

“My name is Yarielys, and my dream is to become a doctor.
I see the challenges we face in our community, especially the lack of jobs and places to have fun.
When I think about my school, I dream of seeing it as a nicer place. I would love to have a dining hall. We could enjoy our meals there, away from the desks where we have classes all day. I would also like to have bigger classrooms to make us feel more comfortable.”

The lack of water in my community sometimes keeps us from washing our clothes or bathing. My dream is tied to this. I long for water every day, so we can perform our daily tasks without worry.
When I picture my school, I imagine a clean and pleasant place, with comfortable bathrooms. I dream of having a library where we can discover exciting stories and learn more every day. Also, having a dining hall would be wonderful, with a cozy space for us to enjoy our meals.”

Our infrastructure presents limitations. Classrooms are informally divided, impacting acoustics and student concentration.
Despite these challenges, our primary aspiration is to ensure that our students receive a full and quality education. Our dream is to have a dignified infrastructure, encompassing everything from a secure perimeter fence to renovated bathrooms, a dining room, a library, a teacher’s lounge, and a computer area equipped with the latest technology. We aim to transform our school into an inspiring space, providing every student with access to essential resources and an environment that nurtures learning.
Though modest in structure, our school excels in quality. We have a highly qualified staff. They are deeply committed to our students’ well-being and deliver high-quality work. Our students embody respect, cultivating an atmosphere of peace and harmony, while our teaching staff are responsible, dynamic, dedicated, and kind.
Despite the challenges, Escuela Profesora Flora Tolentino is a place where the dedication and commitment of all converge to provide a valuable education to the community.”
