About the school’s needs

For the community where the school is located, the main challenge is insecurity. Violence and a lack of protection affect students and their families, creating an environment that is not conducive to comprehensive development.

On a daily basis, many students are absent from school or have family problems and concerns for their personal safety. This is an issue that greatly affects not only the student population but also the community in general.

Help give the children of the Escuela Primaria Lic. Gabriel Ramos Millán the future they deserve.

    Meet the students

    Dayana

“I am Dayana. I am 10 years old. My dream is to finish school and have a career; I would love to be a teacher and continue studying.

In my free time, I enjoy being with my friends and family, going for walks, and watching videos. I believe that young people in my community face many challenges, such as violence, lack of resources for a good education, insecurity, and discrimination.

My dream is that they will no longer be victims of violence, that those who suffer from it will be supported, and that all children can live happily. I would like to see my school with more green areas, games, and tables, and I want it to be painted and to offer more fun activities to enjoy with my friends.”

    —Dayana, 10

    Christian

“Hi, I’m Christian. I’m 10 years old. I dream of being a teacher or a veterinarian doctor when I grow up.

I love to play and paint, spend time with my family, and watch TV. But I know that young people in my community face many challenges, such as crime, violence, financial problems, and family conflicts that affect my peers’ school attendance.

My dream is for children to be able to stop working so they can go to school and for violence and discrimination to disappear. I would like to see my school more colorful, with more games, and for there to be more safety among the boys and girls. I would also like to have more activities to do together.”

    —Christian, 10

    Meet a teacher

“I am the principal of this school. Our school’s biggest challenge today is the backlog caused by the pandemic. Our students have been affected by the disruption in face-to-face and virtual learning, which has led to academic and emotional difficulties.

The school represents an anchor of stability and belonging for the community. It is a haven where children can feel safe and find emotional support, as well as a vital space for their academic and personal growth.

My greatest hope for our school is that all its spaces are enabled and that it becomes a reference as a place of learning and integral development. If someone wanted to financially support extracurricular programs, I would explain to them that our students face many emotional shortcomings and that it is crucial to provide them with psychosocial support. In addition, I would emphasize that our school is inclusive and that any contribution would be greatly appreciated.

We have a great challenge as an educational community to strengthen the infrastructure and encourage parental responsibility towards their children’s school activities. The school represents the heart of the community. It is a center of learning and coexistence for children, youth, and adults”.
