About the school’s needs

Delinquency is an issue in the municipality and community of Mixco Zone 1. One of the main factors is the disintegration of families that have experienced violence, driving young people to seek out groups that negatively influence their decisions.

Other problems are a high rate of disappearances of young people, teenage pregnancy, a lack of access to potable water, and a scarcity of employment.

Fear of crime is a significant barrier that limits individual and collective advancement and hinders the development and well-being of those looking to improve their living conditions.

Help give the children of the Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta INEB Tierra Blanca the future they deserve.

    About Sponsor a School

    Meet the students

    Nashly

“Hi, I’m Nashly Morales, I’m 14 years old.

My big dream is to become an engineer. This is a passion that I have been cultivating for a long time. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and taking care of myself.

One of the challenges I have identified both in my community and among my peers is that many young people tend to change their personality and behavior to try to fit in. I would love to be able to provide them with support and encourage self-acceptance, as they are each unique, possess special qualities and don’t need external validation to be authentic.

Although I feel fortunate to attend my school, I think it would be beneficial to have fans in the classrooms. The heat is often intense and this impacts concentration.”

    Jostin

“Hello, my name is Jostin, I am 14 years old.

One of my greatest wishes is to to attend college and become one of the greatest lawyers. I really enjoy listening to music, spending time with my cousins and playing soccer.

I have noticed that many young people, including some of my peers, are being negatively influenced by violence and drug use. I would love to be able to help them overcome these situations so they can reach their full potential. I dream of a peaceful and harmonious environment among the youth in my school and community.

Although I feel very comfortable in my school, I think it would be great if we had more bathrooms available, more colorful sports courts to enjoy with my friends while playing and more fans to alleviate the heat during classes.”

    —Jostin, 14

    Meet a teacher

“I am Lilia, principal of the Escuela Oficial Urbana Mixta INEB Tierra Blanca Jornada Vespertina. I consider the school to be a space for learning and transformation with established support and links with external institutions, becoming a second home for many of our students and teachers.

We are proud to have exceptional infrastructural facilities, perfectly suited for a quality educational center.

Although we do face challenges, our determination to overcome them is unwavering. We seek to impart an education of excellence, imbued with love and dedication in every lesson, a quality education.

The school represents a real opportunity to change lives and contribute to the development of our community. We do not want our desire for improvement to remain a mere whisper, but to become a powerful voice that drives meaningful change.

For many low-income families with limited opportunities, school is the path to a better life. We are committed to making this dream a tangible reality.”

    —Principal Lilia
