About the school’s needs
Escuela Finca La Capri is located in the Canton Desamparados area of San José, Costa Rica. It’s an area with substantial community challenges, such as:
The community is steadfast in addressing the issues it faces—and in transforming perceptions about education, to emphasize that learning is the key to overcoming poverty and escaping low-wage jobs.
Escuela Finca La Capri is at the heart of that commitment. In the eyes of the community, it is a guiding beacon that is dedicated to a comprehensive education. It focuses not only on academics but also on values and character development. The administration aims for a broader community understanding, encouraging parents to actively participate in their children's education.
With your sponsorship, Escuela Finca La Capri will achieve those goals. It will confront the challenges it faces and realize its potential as a refuge for young people who aspire to a brighter future.
Help give the children of Escuela Finca La Capri the future they deserve.

Nahiara
“I am Nahiara, a 10-year-old girl with big dreams for my community. I dream of having an amazing job someday. During my free time, I like playing games, and sometimes I have fun on social media.
In our community, we face big challenges: crime, littering by children, and a high number of people and dogs on the streets. My dream is to form a group dedicated to cleaning up the streets and providing food to those in need, with the goal of reducing theft and improving the stigmatization we face.
Regarding the school, I would love to see it expand a bit, with more green spaces to make it an even nicer place.”
—Nahiara, 10

“I’m Mathias. I’m 11 years old, and I dream of becoming an architect. During my free time, I like playing soccer or video games.
In our community, young people like me face difficult challenges like violence at home, economic struggles, and drugs. My dream is for all of us to have better opportunities to succeed in the future. In my neighborhood, opportunities are hard to come by.
I would love to see my school as a modern place, with a more positive environment between teachers and students. And no bullying. I hope for it to be a place where we can all learn and grow together.”
—Mathias, 11

Our students grapple daily with learning crucial social skills like coexistence and conflict resolution—skills that aid them not only in school but also in their everyday lives.
I would characterize our school as an environment open to change, deeply committed to the community, and dedicated to creating a friendly and respectful atmosphere. We are continually striving for improvement. Despite limited resources, we are resolute in providing students with meaningful opportunities and a positive educational environment.
For those contemplating financial support for after-school programs, I implore you to acknowledge our commitment and relentless efforts to enhance our school. Despite resource constraints, we have demonstrated exceptional administrative management and diligently worked to make the school both enjoyable and well-equipped.
Programs such as Community Schools have proven immensely beneficial, offering students opportunities in sports and technology. Our aim is to be a beacon for the community, guiding students toward academic and personal success, promoting happiness, and instilling essential life skills. Your support will contribute significantly to this ongoing mission.”
