About the school’s needs

The community surrounding the Luisa de Marillac Catholic School faces a number of social and economic challenges. One of the biggest is the lack of values in the children’s homes, which has an impact on their education.

In addition, the precarious economic situation of many families is reflected in the nutrition of the students, some of whom arrive at school without having eaten.

Despite these difficulties, the school is perceived by the community as a vital point of support, where projects involving both teachers and external companies are carried out, offering a space for opportunities and moral reinforcement for those in need.

Help give the children of the Complejo Educativo Católico Luisa de Marillac the future they deserve.

    Meet the students

    Valery

“My name is Valery and I am 9 years old. I dream of becoming a television presenter and a congresswoman committed to projects that help my country.

In my spare time, I enjoy making jewelry and reading. In my community, we face the challenge of lack of opportunities for talented young people. My community dream is to see more projects and opportunities, like English and computer classes, plus financial support to start small businesses.

As for my school, I would love to see it filled with young people contributing their knowledge in all areas to help train more professionals, including me.”

    Meet a teacher

“I am Sister Morena, principal of the Louise de Marillac Catholic School. The school faces significant challenges in its educational mission.

Our greatest concern lies in the lack of values rooted in the families of our students, which has an impact on their formation. In addition, we must face the socioeconomic reality of many of the families, whose food insecurity directly affects the performance and well-being of our students.

The devastation caused by a severe storm has also left us with significant infrastructure needs that must be addressed to ensure an environment conducive to learning.

The school is committed to the formation of core values, and we see tangible results in the progress and development of our students.

We have a strong support network, both from external organizations and from our own community, which allows us to offer extracurricular programs and additional resources to enrich the educational experience of our students. Our school is a haven for many, a place where personal growth, mutual respect and responsible citizenship are encouraged.”

    —Sister Morena
